New drivers are generally under prepared for the important task of driving and, after licencing, are let out on the road to learn the real skills of driving, on their own. They are self taught, they do this by 'scare experiences', or worse, crashes. When these occur, society shows them no mercy. Yet these young people have been allowed on the road unprepared and ignorant of the real requirements of safe driving. They have no real control over their own destiny. There is a huge knowledge vacuum here.

The Trent Driving School program is designed to address this vacuum.

THE SEVEN SAFETY FACTORS OF DRIVING ARE:

1. AIM HIGH
Depth of vision is needed to enable you to make correct driving decisions.

2. EYES ON THE MOVE

In combination with depth of vision, your eyes must be kept moving, to look for potential trouble.

3. SEE THE WHOLE SCENE

'Aim High' and 'Eyes on the Move' enables you to see the whole scene, to get the big picture.

4. SAFETY CUSHION

This describes the space that you must have maintained around the car at all times. It is 'your space' and you do not want anyone else in it.

5. EARLY DECISION

If early decisions are made, you have ample time to perform any manoeuvre with safety. You become predictable to other drivers. Late decisions are crash decisions.

6. BE SEEN

Being visible to other drivers is a key to safe driving. If they see you early enough they will not run into you.

7. HAVE AN ESCAPE
Always have an 'out' in any driving situation. The combination of the above factors combine to give that 'out.'

All new drivers need these skills to survive on today's busy roads.

They are only available at Trent.
