From the Desk of the CEO

(Not Actual CEO)

I hope you all had a great long weekend and the holidays are proving fruitful for you. It's been great catching up with a lot of you over the last month or so at the conference and Bstreetsmart. In light of that I have some exciting news. We are going to build you a new diary platform as an app. The development will begin in January so the next few months will be about planning and intelligence gathering. I have already been making my way out to have coffee with driver trainers to get ideas on improving this system. The feedback has been great. So, as part of this months roundabout I am putting out an open invitation to anyone that wants to give me input on ways to make the next version a brilliant user experience. Some of the early feedback has been about giving complete control over things like cancellations and blocking/opening times and I think these are great ideas.

If you would like to schedule a time to catch up please email me at [email protected] and we can organise a coffee. Looking forward to it.

Teach well,

Stephen O’Sullivan-CEO

UNIFORMS

We have also introduced our new look uniforms- matching our fresh new logo and branding, feedback from the field so far has been very positive. The old uniforms are no longer available and will be phased out over the coming months-  so make sure you place your order by contacting our supplier at Activ Embroidery Designs on (02)-9737-9759

We hope to have a suitable polo shirt available before summer.

DAYLIGHT SAVINGS

Don’t forget Daylight savings starts at 2.00am on the 7th October- dont be early for your Sunday appointments-

It maybe worthwhile considering adjusting your shift availability to later in the day during daylight savings time, as more students will be looking to be out and about later in the evenings.

WELCOME PACKS

We recently conducted a survey with both our customers and Driver Trainers regarding the use and benefits of the Trent Welcome Packs. In summary it was found to be adding very little value, and once delivered was never seen again.

Therefore once your current stock supplies are depleted, the only materials we will continue to provide students at their first lesson will be the Handbook and Student Record Card- this is essential for all new students to continue to set us apart from the competition.

We will be putting the cost savings on printing the folders towards building these tools in a digital format for future use.

TOWARDS 3000

Our One BIG Goal this year is to get 3000 students to pass their test first go in a Trent Car.

After the first 3 months of the year we have only had 332 pass first go- out of a possible 454 first tests.

We have a long way to go.

Special mention has to go to the following Driver Trainers, all of whom have averaged more than one test per week. Is it a coincidence they all have some of the highest pass first go rates as well?

It has been said that “The definition of insanity is to continue to do the same thing and expect a different result”  What do you need to change to get more of your students to Test?

The RMS stats show that up until the End of June 2018 – 62,500 learners have passed their test first go. That’s a 61% pass rate. At Trent we have a 73% pass first go rate. This is something we need to be telling all our students form their first lesson.

After much thought Michael realised that his passion lied in the direct opportunity of teaching students and its where he can have the most impact.

On behalf of all your team and colleagues Michael, thank you for your service, advice and coaching. We are excited that you will still be representing and delivering the Trent Way.

Until we announce a replacement, Michael is always happy take your calls for advice with Students. The Support Office will still manage your shifts and diary changes. If you need stationary your always welcome to drop in to the support office at North Ryde and collect what you need, or contact myself Glenn Mackay 0409 424 646 to make arrangements.

ALPIS- Average Lessons Per Inactive Student

In September our company ALPIS improved to 6.67 for the 12 month period from 01/10/17- 30/09/18.

All but 2 Branches improved when compared to last month figures, and we now have 3 Branches delivering better than an average of 8 lessons per student.

Compare your own ALPIS to the rest of your branch- if it’s below the mark, you need to ask yourself “what are my colleagues doing that I'm not?
